CatSat Images the Moon
Oct. 17, 2024
In a further test of CatSat's pointing ability, the team instructed CatSat to flip backwards and capture an image of the full Moon on October 17th as it appeared to rise over the Earth's horizon. As the metrology cameras were not designed to handle the contrast between the deep black of space and the bright Earth and Moon illuminated by the Sun, the image has been washed out and no surface details can be seen. However, the blue sky and disk of the Moon are easily visible.
