CatSat Completes First Linear Transponder Mode Test
On the morning of April 11th, CatSat successfully demonstrated the capability to act as a linear transponder satellite for the first time! In this mode of operation, the satellite receives signals sent from the ground at 5.663 GHz and re-transmits them back to the ground at 10.47 GHz. During the pass, team members tracked the satellite and confirmed the presence of the re-transmitted signal at 10.47 GHz.
This capability is part of our service to the Ham Radio community. The team hopes to repeat this capability in the future, providing early notification for interested Ham Radio operators to bounce their signals off the satellite. Stay tuned for more information about the notification process and future plans.
