CatSat Captures Picture of Tucson
On the morning of August 4th, 2024, CatSat captured a series of 5 pictures from orbit while passing over southern California. These images, from one of the metrology cameras onboard, show a broad swath of the planet including parts of California, Arizona, Baja California, and Sonora. Notably for the team, Tucson is seen in the distance, between two clouds near the top of the image.
The image set was fully downlinked from the spacecraft in the days following the capture. The CatSat team plans to continue capturing images with the metrology camera system as a part of ongoing spacecraft commissioning activities and as a regular capability of the mission. To see all images taken by the spacecraft, see the Images from Space gallery page.
